The Rituals of the Evening Offering Prayers on Chhath Puja

The Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival mostly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh and the madya Pradesh and Nepal among Bihar ethnic. It is one of the most important festivals of bihari ethnic group. The four-day long Chhath Puja is celebrated on the sixth day of Kartik month according to the Hindu calendar. From beginning of festival, the Devotees observe nirjala fasting (without drink water and no food) till last day of this festival.
In this festival devotees offer prayers to Sun God and Chhathi Maiya by taking a holy dip in the nearest river or lake to them. during the Chhath Puja, devotees offer prayers to setting sun in the third day of festival, in the evening whereas in the last day to the rising in the morning.The Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival mostly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh and the madya Pradesh and Nepal among BiharI ethnic.
